KSU Writing Center Social Media Campaign (2015)

The Writing Center at Kennesaw State University is a welcoming place where students can work one-on-one with a peer tutor to hash out any concerns regarding their academic or personal writing.  While this service is included in the semester fees, many student's neglect to utilize the center  for various reasons. The most common reason is that students either don't know that it exists or that going to the Writing Center means that they are dumb. As a student, I recognized that the most efficient and relatable way to connect with young people is through social media. I spearheaded marketing efforts at the Writing Center and grew their social media presence in effort to connect with students on a more personal level.

The Writing Center set up tables at new student orientation fairs and encouraged students and parents to follow their social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat) to be entered to win an "English 1101 Starter-Pack." Over three months, I was able to grow Snapchat following by 112 students and increase Facebook following by 280 likes.
